  1. Pick up a suction cup dent puller from your neighborhood auto parts store or our parts department, and use it to pull the dent out.
  2. The other method for DIY dent repair is, admittedly, a bit more advanced and labor-intensive:
    • Remove the body panel when you’re trying to fix a dent in a car.
    • Use a hairdryer to heat the dent for several minutes.
    • Take a mallet and knock the dent back into place.
    • The heat from the dryer expands the metal making it easier to be pushed back into shape.

How to Fix Scratches on Car

If they’re just in the clear coat, you’ll be able to fix scratches on your car’s surface. Here’s how to fix scratches on a car at home:

  1. Clean the area with soapy water and a towel.
  2. Tape around the scratched area to protect the rest of the finish.
  3. Choose the right sandpaper to sand the scratch down. If your fingernail catches when you run it over the scratch, use 3000 grit sandpaper; if it doesn’t, use 5000 grit.
  4. Spray the scratch and the sandpaper with water.
  5. Sand against the grain of the scratch. Continue respraying and sanding the scratch until it disappears.
  6. With a microfiber towel, use a swirling motion to add “fine” polish onto the area. Use a microfiber towel to remove any excess polish and lightly buff the surface.
  7. Add wax to the surface to protect your clear coat.
