Welcome to Southaven, truly the TOP of Mississippi!
Southaven is a young community with old roots in the region. It’s named after the famous Memphis neighborhood, Whitehaven. (Can you guess which cardinal direction Southaven is from Whitehaven? Clue: it’s not North.) Not officially incorporated until 1980, Southaven started as just a little village barely outside Memphis proper before Kemmons Wilson, founder of the Holiday Inn hotel chain, began to develop residences in the area. It’s only been a few decades, but Southaven is already one of the fastest-growing communities in the south. It took only 20 years for the city to double its geographic size and triple its population, and Southaven is still growing to this day.
Southaven is a breath of fresh air just outside the hustle-and-bustle of Memphis. Intentionally residential, Southaven is a place that fosters quality family time and relaxed living. One of our favorite events is the annual Dizzy Dean Baseball World Series, where little leaguers from across the country come to compete in a delightfully adorable youth baseball tournament at Snowden Grove Baseball Park.
Southaven has its eyes on further development with the creation of new businesses, venues, and opportunities. Soon, Southaven will become the home court of the Memphis Grizzlies affiliate team, the Memphis Hustle. They’ll join the semi-professional hockey team, the Mississippi RiverKings, at Landers Center, Southaven’s premier sports arena. Shoppers come from all around the region to explore the shopping centers and outlets of Southaven. The city has grown so much in its short life; we can’t wait to see how Southaven expands in the near future!
There’s so much to explore all around the city of Southaven, so if you’re in need of a new vehicle to get you around, don’t hesitate to stop by and see us at Wolfchase Nissan! We’re happy to serve the wonderful community of Southaven.
